Let me tell you how we got here.
When I lost my dad at 17, my world was obliterated. Despite slowly losing him over the course of a year, I wasn't ready. I don't think anyone ever is, regardless of how long you have to prepare. There were so many discussions we never had, and questions I'd never get to ask.

Grief is incredibly complex. Which is why so many people struggle with it their entire lives. Even with professional support, there are no quick fixes, no right answers - just your experience and what you're going through.
In early 2025, after watching a storyline in a TV show about people creating AI simulations of lost loved ones, I had a realisation. This was actually possible now. And it was terrifying. People could build long-term relationships with simulations, creating unhealthy attachments and never fully grieving.
That's when it clicked. What if the technology could be used as a tool - like the empty chair technique - that actually supported healing rather than creating dependency?
So I decided to build Finalnote.
A completely immersive messaging experience designed to feel real, so that it can have genuine impact and create profound, lasting healing. But always transparent, reminding you that this is an AI tool and not a replacement for your loved one. I built it as a 3-step therapeutic framework that complements professional care rather than replacing it. Something that could support your healing journey, not substitute for the person you lost.
When I started this project, there were very few tools in this space. The ones that existed seemed to support what I consider highly unethical dependency. Over the past year, I've watched more and more projects emerge that all seem to prioritise profit over wellbeing - encouraging long-term subscriptions and ongoing relationships with AI simulations.
That's why this matters more than ever. We're walking into a world where what we saw in sci-fi is becoming very real. If nobody does this right, the answer will keep being another chatbot, another algorithm, another tech solution that misses the point entirely.
I'd rather build with your heart and healing in mind.
That's what I'm here to do.
